Course Overview
The course is aimed at qualified Respiratory Clinical Physiologists, doctors in training, Respiratory Physiotherapists and Respiratory Nurse Specialists. It may also be suitable for trainee respiratory Clinical Physiologists who have completed the ARTP Associate qualification and are working towards their ARTP Practitioner qualification.

Learning outcomes
This course aims to review respiratory muscle function in health and disease, describe the available techniques for examining respiratory muscle function, discuss the selection of clinically appropriate assessment techniques and demonstrate their practical application.

  • Respiratory muscle physiology
  • Indications for respiratory muscle testing
  • Measurement of inspiratory and expiratory mouth pressures (PImax & PEmax)
  • Measurement of sniff nasal inspiratory pressure (SNIP)
  • Causes of respiratory muscle weakness
  • Result interpretation and case studies

Costs
Full Course: ARTP Member - £150. Non Member - £200.
