Awards

ARTP awards are made by the Association in recognition of outstanding performance of members of the respiratory and sleep community whose achievements demonstrate commitment to excellence.  The range of awards include our Fellowship awards, Educational and Non-Educational Special awards.

Honorary Fellowships

In the year 2000, the ARTP launched the ARTP Special Awards. These awards represented the highest expression of recognition for sustained advancement of respiratory and sleep science or respiratory and sleep medicine. They recognised and celebrated the outstanding performance by a member of the respiratory and sleep community whose career had been distinguished by a continued commitment to excellence in science, research, and leadership. Leadership was demonstrated by the individual’s scientific achievements and sustained commitment to building ARTP as a vibrant organisation adapted to future needs. Additionally, the award recognised efforts in support of colleagues and the mentoring of young scientists.

In 2025 ARTP launched its Fellowship Policy to align directly with the Association's strategic aims. As with the previous Special Achievement Awards, the fellowship programme recognises individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence, leadership and made significant contributions to respiratory and/or sleep physiology and the wider aims of the Association. Honorary Fellowship is awarded to individuals who may or not be members of the ARTP but have made an outstanding contribution to respiratory and/or sleep physiology, education, innovation, or advocacy aligned with the ARTP's mission. As Honorary Fellowship's replaced the previous ARTP Special Awards, past awardess have been conferred Honorary Fellowship status. The full list of Honorary Fellows can be viewed here.
