ARTP Sleep Pulse Oximetry and Polygraphy Practitioner Certificate

Overview

This certificate requires access to polygraphy. It consists of 4 sections including candidate CV and background of the department including the referral process and pathway, protocol for performing the diagnostic test, clinical understanding for the test is a necessity. An understanding of how the device works including the software, limitations and how sleep disordered breathing is measured is essential. The candidate will be require to provide 10 mini case studies meeting specific criteria and using polygraphy.

Target Audience

This certificate is aimed at Band 5 and over who are working in a sleep department.

Assessment Format

This certificate comprises of a portfolio that is completed over 6 months. The portfolio aims for candidates to understand the referral pathway for sleep investigations, how the equipment works and the advantages/disadvantages to the investigation. There are 6 sections to this portfolio, which includes evidence of performing tests on certain types of patients (eg. Patient with mild obstructive sleep apnoea).
