ARTP Spirometry Certification Audit Reports 2025

Over the last 12 months, the ARTP Spirometry Committee has been working hard to conduct an audit of every aspect of the spirometry certification to identify both strengths and areas for improvement. 

This has become easier to obtain due to the new spirometry portal giving us access to monthly reports detailing pass rates by element, training provider, and job role. We review these reports regularly and will share each training provider's specific pass rates, allowing them to assess their practices as needed.

OSCE
The feedback regarding the OSCE examination has been largely positive. Starting from 1st May, the updated OSCE process will be implemented, aligning more closely with the ARTP associate and practitioner examinations. This change is expected to better represent the candidates' everyday experiences in performing spirometry in the workplace.

MCQ
The feedback on the MCQ examination has been largely positive. We have clarified the scope of the MCQ to ensure that participants in the reporting segment of the certification understand it's target audience. In the coming year, we will focus on expanding the question bank to incorporate a broader range of manufacturers.

Portfolio
The feedback from the portfolio examination indicates positive experiences however, this aspect of the competency certificate is considered the most challenging. Version 2 was released in August 24 and we are continuing to collect feedback on the updated problems encountered section. The portfolio remains the biggest element of the certification which candidates report struggles with, and we will focus on improving this in the first part of 2025. We will communicate changes as they happen.
