University of Wolverhampton Graduate Diploma in Respiratory and Cardiac Sciences
29 January 2024
The University of Wolverhampton will be running the Graduate Diploma in both Respiratory and Cardiac Sciences in collaboration with the NSHCS. The graduate diploma will be self-funded, our first intake will be September 2024.
The programme integrates academic teaching of clinical and professional modules from the Practitioner Training Programme (PTP). The PTP is a full-time, 3-year, undergraduate degree. The graduate diploma aims to fast-track trainees who have a relevant, cognate undergraduate degree. There is appropriate work-based training over 1 year within an NHS department, allowing a fast, quality assured scheme up-skilling trainees to become equivalent to graduates of the PTP. The required theory underpinning Respiratory or Cardiac Sciences is taught at the HEI.
The Graduate diploma will also be offered on a part time basis (24 months), which is an option for students who have had no prior clinical exposure. The decision to study full time/part time will be tripartite, and requires agreement from the HEI, NHS Dept and Student.
By increasing the workforce at this level, this would also allow further development of current experienced Respiratory Physiologists to support efforts to increase and retain the workforce at more advanced levels.
If you would like further information, or have a potential candidate, feel free to contact the University directly at HCSTeam@wlv.ac.uk
