NICE Consultation on Interim Methods and Processes Statement

NICE’s transformation plan includes a commitment to ensuring that our guidance is useful and useable. As part of this work, we are developing methods and processes to include published technology appraisals in our guidelines. NICE’s Technology Appraisals and Guidelines programmes have different remits and our methods and processes have evolved to reflect this. In order to include technology appraisals in our guidelines we recognise the need for closer alignment in approach between our guidance producing programmes.

NICE will shortly be consulting on an interim methods and process statement regarding ‘integrating’ and ‘incorporating’ technology appraisals into guidelines. The statement will set out what those different terms involve, the principles guiding our approach to alignment, and our initial proposals for alignment. The consultation will run from 5 February to 15 March 2024, and we would welcome your comments on our proposals.

Details of the proposals around bringing technology appraisals into guidelines are set out in papers from NICE’s Board meeting in December. For further information, please read appendix D of item 7 of the Board papers.

Online stakeholder event
We will be holding an online stakeholder consultation event on 1st February from 13:00 to 15:00. This will be an opportunity to hear more about the proposals and to ask any questions you may have.
