Opportunity for ARTP-Registered Professionals in Spirometry Reporting
12 January 2026

Dear Spirometry Registrants,
Are you currently on the ARTP national spirometry registered with a reporting certification?
- Would you like to contribute to a University of Oxford research study?
- Could you report 25 or more spirometry traces over the next 3-6 months?
The University of Oxford are recruiting ARTP-registered health care professionals to join a team reporting on spirometry traces to form part of the reference standard diagnosis of COPD for the CORMORANT study.
The CORMORANT study (https://www.phctrials.ox.ac.uk/recruiting-trials/cormorant) is investigating the accuracy of a new diagnostic test for COPD (N-Tidal) compared to spirometry in 500 participants in UK primary care. The spirometry will have been performed as part of routine clinical care at their GP, or local hub/diagnostic centre, for suspected COPD. As part of the study, the spirometry trace will be independently reported by two reporters, with a third review for any traces with discrepancies between reporters.
Spirometry reporting will take place via a web form and can be done at flexible times to suit your own schedule. You will be paid £10 per trace reported. We would like reporters to commit to reporting 25 or more traces over the next six months, but there is also potential to do more if you wish. Reporting will generally follow ARTP reporting standards but full guidance will be given on study-specific reporting requirements and how to complete the reporting form.
Please contact cormorant@phc.ox.ac.uk if you have further questions or to express interest – please include the following information:
- Name
- E-mail address
- ARTP spirometry register number (must be current)
- Professional background e.g. physiologist, nurse, pharmacist
- Current setting of work e.g. GP practice, outpatient clinic
- Number of spirometry traces you currently report per month (on average, approximately)
- Estimated number of traces you would like to report for the CORMORANT study over the next 6 months (between 25 and 150)
- Any involvement that you have already with the CORMORANT study e.g. as a study site
Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering if you can support this request.
