Sara McArthur
Position: ARTP Secretary
secretary@artp.org.uk
Who am I?
I am the Head of Service for Respiratory Physiology in NHS Lothian in Edinburgh and have over 15 years experience in the field. I hold degrees in Biological Science and Clinical Physiology and achieved my Part 1 and Part 2 ARTP professional examinations. I achieved the status of Clinical Scientist in 2018 and in 2020 I completed my PGcert in Clinical Education.
I have a keen interest in research and have presented at local, national and European events.
It was my pleasure to hold the position of chair of the ARTP Workforce Committee after being on the committee for many years.
To help facilitate change in Scotland I am now the Scottish Strategic Network for Diagnostics (SSND) Clinical Physiology Core Group respiratory representative and the deputy representative for the SSND education subgroup. I attend the Scottish Parliament Cross Party group meetings for lung health to try and ensure that respiratory physiology and our workforce are represented during all discussions.
A bit about me
 |
I am enthusiastic, approachable and happy to help. My mantra is that there are definitely no stupid questions!
Promoting healthcare science has always been a passion of mine and I love promoting STEM in general.
I was a croupier for many years so I play a mean game of Texas Holdem. Travel is in my blood, as is art: so much so that my body is covered in it (I have lost count of how many tattoos and piercings I have).

What would you like to achieve in your new role?
I want to support the ARTP as we welcome new committee members, set new inclusive goals and ensure that all the devolved nations are represented within each committee and strategic decision.
