Richard Glover
Position: ARTP Treasurer

Who am I?
I am a Clinical Scientist and the Deputy Service Lead within the Lung Function and Sleep Service at Good Hope Hospital, which is part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
I completed the original BSc in Respiratory and Sleep Science, followed by my master’s degree at University of Keele; I am now (2024) in the final year of the HSST, so there’s light at the end of the tunnel! I work across all aspects of respiratory and sleep science and have a specialist interest in non-invasive home ventilation, along with our recently introduced CPET service.
A bit about me
I love a challenge or puzzle where I have to look at new ways of working or changing a system to solve a problem. My training role within the team is really important to me and I enjoy seeing trainees achieve their potential.
Outside work, I love good food (eating and cooking) and can rustle up a pretty decent chilli con carne and a mean lasagne (according to my son). I value spending time at home with my family and friends.
My son has recently got into football and is a keen supporter of Aston Villa FC. We hope to be able to get to Villa Park a few times this season, and try to see a Champions League game if we’re lucky!
I also enjoy live music and my fiancée and I try and get to as many festivals and gigs as we can, although festival camping is now a thing of the past for us due to the unpredictable British weather. We have also added two guinea pigs (or ‘guinea kids’), Popcorn and Fudge, to the family and have created a vegetable patch in our garden to try and keep up with their demand for food.
What would you like to achieve in your role?
As Vice-Treasurer I am excited to learn more about the role of treasurer and contribute to ensuring that the ARTP is able to manage resources effectively. It is essential that the organisation remains in a good financial position, which will help us expand our reach and impact within the field of respiratory and sleep science.
