Aim: To share experience with the multi-professional team on the use and application of mouthpiece ventilation
Objectives: By the end of the session participants will:
- have received an overview of the development of mouthpiece ventilation
- have a greater understanding of the indications and use of mouthpiece ventilation for daytime breathing support in neuromuscular disease
- be introduced to the use of mouthpiece ventilation for lung recruitment and airway clearance
- explore the use of mouthpiece ventilation in other scenarios such as weaning, eating and drinking and other conditions
- understand the different equipment, modes and settings used in mouthpiece ventilation
- have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with mouthpiece ventilation
- gain insight into the patient experience from users of mouthpiece ventilation
- have the opportunity to collaborate on the further development of mouthpiece ventilation for patients receiving domiciliary NIV
