BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-/-/EN BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Sleep Course - Basic UID:25 DESCRIPTION:Target Audience\nPTP graduates, STP direct entry students and respiratory physiologists and assistants working at Bands 3-6 level that may be part of an existing sleep service, or Band 6 and above who wish to start a new service. \n\nAim\nThis one day course will focus on the theory and practical aspects of sleep breathing disorders and will cover the physiology and pathophysiology of sleep breathing disorders, related diagnostics and their treatments. \n\nLearning Outcomes\nBy the end of the course delegates will:\n• Understand the stages of sleep, the normal patterns of sleep in health and the interaction between sleep and breathing responses.\n• Be able to define sleep breathing events, and understand the common clinical terms used in sleep clinics.\n• Know and understand the main sleep breathing disorders, their defining criteria and the pathophysiology behind them.\n• Understand how signals on a range of diagnostic devices work and how to set patients up.\n• Understand clinical features of sleep breathing disorders, the main presentation pathways and reasons behind them.\n• Know the principles of CPAP and ventilation in OSA and CSA, understand how to improve patient compliance and troubleshooting/solutions to common problems. • Understand how to set up subjects on CPAP masks and get an excellent fit.\n• Understand how to set up subjects on CPAP devices.\n• Know the principles of mandibular advancements devices, when to use them, and how to advise subjects on using MAD devices.\n\nThis course was last held on the 1st December in Birmingham.\n\nIf you are interested hearing about the next Basic Sleep Course, please complete the waiting list form here.\n\n DTSTART:20251201T164500Z DTEND:20250623T154500Z LOCATION:Birmingham City Centre END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
